It has been another great GCSE and Level 2 Results Day at St Brendan’s Sixth Form College and we are celebrating some exceptional results for our students.

The College is very proud of the progress that students have made. Some were re-taking GCSEs that they hadn’t managed to secure before leaving school (e.g. Maths, English, Biology), others have completed the College’s one-year Access to Level 3 programme and now have qualifications that enable them to progress to their next steps, which for the majority is Level 3 study at St Brendan’s or an apprenticeship.

The College’s GCSE figures across the board are higher than the 2019 figures which was the last time that students sat external exams before COVID struck. English Language GCSE results were outstanding with 78% of our students being awarded a grade 4 or higher.

25% of all students studying a Level 2 BTEC secured a Distinction or Distinction* which are the highest grades possible.

Matthew (pictured) is a great example of the way that the College’s Access to Level 3 programme is helping young people from across the city progress to the next stage of their education. Matthew joined the college with just one GCSE at grade 4 or above and with a grade 2 in English Language. He has now obtained a grade 5 in English Language and a Double Merit in Business.

Principal Marian Curran “These are fantastic results and are a testament to our students’ resilience and high aspirations in incredibly challenging circumstances.  They are all exceptional, inspiring and talented young people and they have much to celebrate. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at St Brendan’s for all the support and encouragement they have provided these students inside and outside of the classroom!”
