“I saw a poster in college about a pop-up art studio competition that was taking place at Paintworks. I thought it would be a good opportunity to practice my art skills as well as working to a brief and meeting other artists. I signed up for the event and received an email telling me about my brief which was 'What does Paintworks mean to You?'

I arrived at 9:00 on the day of the competition and didn't finish my piece until 20:00 that night. I might not have won, but this experience proved to be very useful because I had to work in timed conditions, in a competitive environment, which is a lot like real-life in the creative industry.”
