St Brendan’s Sixth Form College has been awarded the Quality in Careers Standard. This is official recognition for the high quality careers programme that its students receive.

The Quality in Careers Standard is the single national quality award for careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) in schools, colleges and work-based learning. It is aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks for “Good Career Guidance” (a set of 8 standards that research suggests define best practice in regards to careers education and guidance), and fully complies with the Department for Education's Statutory Guidance.

As England’s dedicated national quality award, the Quality in Careers Standard – through external assessment – uniquely accredits the four components of CEIAG:

  1. Careers Education
  2. Careers Information
  3. Careers Advice
  4. Careers Guidance

Tim Warren, Operations Manager at Investor in Careers UK Limited, the awarding body, said in his correspondence to the College: “Congratulations on completing the Final Stage of The Quality in Careers Standard. A strong commitment to achieve The Quality in Careers Standard has been demonstrated and I am pleased to confirm that your evidence shows that you are making good progress towards meeting all the accreditation criteria, incorporating the Gatsby Benchmarks.”

Julie Ilogu, Careers & Employability Manager at St Brendan’s commented “We are delighted to have been awarded this standard – it is one of the highest accolades a school or college can receive for excellence in this area”.
