St Brendan’s celebrated National Chemistry Week in style, with a range of exciting experiments taking place last week.
Students making bath bombs
The week started with students attending chemistry demonstrations, where the audience witnessed an eruption of a miniature ammonium dichromate volcano, along with Jelly Babies being made to scream and fly after being dropped into potassium chlorate.
Later in the week, students (and staff too) took over the labs themselves and put their chemistry skills into practice by combining citric acid, sodium bicarbonate and cornflower with food colourings and fragrances, to make their very own colourful bath bombs!
