Two St Brendan’s students had a weekend full of robot excitement last week as they took part in the Student Robotics Competition 2015.
Aran Long and Toby Lassauzet
Computing students Aran Long and Toby Lassauzet built a fully-functioning robot (its main body being made from a clementine box) to take part in the annual games. With 54 teams from the UK and Germany competing in a ‘Capture the Flag’ competition which lasted over the two days, the students built a robot from scratch, operated solely by programming; no remote control involved! Congratulations to both students for their fantastic hard work – they gained a spot in the top 16 which is an incredible achievement.
Aran and Toby built their robot on a very tight budget, using any appropriate materials they could find to build their complex creation. With other teams spending a fortune on their entries, the students should be very proud of their hard work and determination.
