The students of Textile Design were provided with the exciting opportunity to develop their literacy skills in the classroom recently, as they were expertly taken through the art of ‘slow writing’ with literacy guru Nina Streeting, supported by Textile Design teacher Jenny Hamblin.

With careful planning and liaison between Jenny Hamblin, Jo Woodbridge and fellow members of the team, Nina was able to prepare course specific material to guide the students through a simple yet powerful approach to tackling their written study. The students, the majority of whom readily admit that “writing is not my strength”, were given hints, tips and skills to use when taking on future assignments. All students reported that the session was good fun and that they now felt they would be able to approach their written study with confidence.
