Upon leaving St Brendan's I studied for a Joint Honours Degree in Chemistry and Physics at Durham University and I am now studying for my PhD in Nanoscience at Manchester University.
My biggest achievement to date was getting a first class degree from Durham after four years of hard work.
The best advice I could give current students is (although it is a massive cliché) no matter what you end up doing make sure you enjoy it, because if you enjoy it, then it is not as hard to put in extra hours or go that little bit further to be the best you can be.
One thing I regret from my time at College is that I didn't put more time into doing something outside of the academic work like spending more time doing a sport, or playing music.
I am not sure what I will be doing in ten years time but after 8 years of studying at university there are a lot of options open, whether it is staying academia, going into industry or trying something completely different. It's too hard to choose one path just yet.
