Raising and Giving (RAG) week is an annual event during which we (the Student Union aka SU) host a bunch of fundraising activities. With the goal of fostering a sense of community engagement for students and teacher alike. We aim to offer an abundance entertaining and captivating activities for individuals to partake in. From quirky challenges to captivating events, RAG week serves as a platform for students to not only have fun but also contribute to meaningful causes.

This year, we have elected to support the Foundation for Active Community Engagement (FACE) - specifically their Bristol Autism Project (BEP) - as the designated charity for RAG week. FACE is an organisation with a profound mission to uplift individuals of all ages and empower communities to thrive. Their focus extends beyond mere assistance; they are dedicated to equipping people with the necessary skills, knowledge, and opportunities to effect positive change in their lives and the broader community. Whether it is through educational initiatives, access to support networks, or fostering a culture of active participation, FACE embodies the ethos of making a tangible difference through grassroots efforts, like BEP. By rallying behind FACE, students are not only supporting a worthy cause but also championing the values of empowerment and community betterment.

During this week we have engaged in a whirlwind of exciting games and experiences!

Monday kicked off with a cozy and laid-back vibe as students embraced Pyjama Day, accompanied by an enticing lineup of movies and delectable snacks. From Mean Girls, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and 10 Things I Hate About You, the communal viewing experience fostered a sense of unity among the student body, all while relaxing in our most comfortable clothing!

Tuesday's highlight was undoubtedly the SU’s bake sale, where the air was filled with the aroma of home-baked goodies. From warm cookies to cute cupcakes, each treat was lovingly donated by businesses and generous donors, spreading joy and sweetness throughout the college corridors.

Midweek excitement peaked on Wednesday with the launch of an enticing raffle, offering an array of enticing prizes ranging from board game bundles to paintballing sessions and passes to the Clifton Observatory. Additionally, a lively games room provided students and teachers alike with the chance to compete for victory, with the bonus of winning an ice-cream cone from Sav’s Ice Cream Van!

Thursday brought forth a refreshing treat as Sav’s Ice Cream Van made a delightful visit, serving up creamy scoops of icy goodness to eager students. The colourful array of flavours and toppings sparked smiles and laughter, adding a sweet touch to an already memorable week.

As the week ended on Friday, the excitement continued to soar with the ongoing sale of raffle tickets, each one holding the promise of a thrilling prize awaiting its lucky winner. With anticipation running high, I eagerly await the unveiling of the winners and the possibility of claiming a coveted reward in the week to come.

In reflection, I am compelled to acknowledge that RAG (Raising and Giving) week has been an enriching experience on multiple fronts. Not only has it been an enticing week to raise funds for a worthy cause, but it has also served as a valuable educational journey, broadening my understanding of global issues and the pivotal role that charities like FACE play in empowering the youth within our community.
